Honestly though, I did take a hard look and here is what I learned:
I really want to watch Wreck it Ralph
"Uh, what?" You may be asking yourself... "Introspection doesn't work like that Miguel"
Well, you see... You're right. That is, until you hear this incredibly pop infused (because it is pop) ballad called "When can I see you again?" by Owl City:
Click his face. You know you want to
This song, from what my minimal research has shown is from the official soundtrack (the characters are in the video! How can it now be from the movie?!). And, if you didn't click on his face, you still might not know why this song describes me and my current situation.... But I'll explain!
You see, like this song (and the movie from what I know), my very existence is oxymoronic...
Pictured: Me (except not really)
Let's just say, I'm a tad to big for my personality...
Pictured: My analogous personality body, except... you know... white. Not that there's anything wrong with that, mind you! I don't mind white people at all! I know someone who's friends with a white person! (Ahhhhh, racial humor... what dare I get myself into)
And, if the movie synopsis from imdb is any indication, the movie is a journey of growth and acceptance... Of learning to love yourself for who you are and learning the value of friendship (etc, etc, ad infinitum).
You had me at Zangief
So, in conclusion, I really need to watch this movie... Thank you, goodnight!

"But Miguel! What about the Owl City analogy, the whole introspection deal and the obvious comparison between two major movie characters?! There are way too many holes in your train of thought"
Well... First of all, too many questions. Second, I'm getting to it... Third, Did you do something with your hair? It looks lovely!
But back on track, The reason why I picked the song... should be self-explanatory (at least it will be eventually, if not already). In short, it's adorable and the lyrics are so cliche filled that they'd work in any situation. In long, it's adoooooooooooooooooooooraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaableeeeeeeeeeeeee, aaaaaaaaaaaaaaannnnnnnnnnnnnnndddddd theeeeeeeeee lyyyyyyyyyyyriiiiiiiiiiiiicsssssssssssss-
Okay, okay... here it is:
The song is incredibly campy, and (as you'll see if you chose to listen to the song) the lyrics overlap with pretty much the beginning of any journey...
- Going to a foreign country?
- "When can I see you again?"
- Going to the DMV?
- "When can I see you again?"
- Need to go buy groceries?
- "When can I see you again?"
The song explains, in more repetition that me, that even though you might be in a good place, with good people and happy with where you are... There's just so much out there. Adam Young (as well as many before him, in full disclosure) says it best
"Life is way to short to take it slow".
There is a whole world out there, and even if you are in this great place with great people... sometimes you can't see it. I feel like it's time for me to go and see this "world". And with the ups, the down and the challenges of the Peace Corps, I think that this is the best catalyst for my adventure to begin. And, the beautiful thing about this "adventure" is that not only am I expanding my own world, but the world of others. And there is no better present than the gift of knowledge! Well... except for maybe a jet-pack:
Pictured: Close second for "World's greatest gift"
So, in actual conclusion... My reason for joining the Peace Corps for today is that I get to enter a pixelated world with floating coins and race my friends in go-karts made of pastries... Or to become part of something larger than myself and become a citizen of the world in which I can not only make a difference, but learn about myself and others... Increasing my awareness and my aspirations to lead change in a generation that is often criticized for it's lack of motivation...
Maybe not as analogous to a cartoon movie about video games as I originally perceived.
That being said, I hope that this post gave some insight as to me and my personality type. I do hope that you take this as only a half truth. I am not trying to come off as being a volunteer is some sort of paid vacation... I understand the seriousness and intensity of it all, but I tend to be very light hearted. So, this post is less about Peace Corps and more about nothing in particular.
So, to end, I invite you to ask some questions (if you have any) about the Peace Corps experience. While everyone's experience is different, I found it very useful to read some beforehand. So, don't hesitate to ask any questions in the comment section!
And with that; It's been fun, but now I've got to go!
